The food was on point!!! We got the duck and pulled pork. The onion pie was the star of the show. But I wouldn’t be remiss if I didn’t mention how amazing the cornbread is with the chicken gravy. Sooooooo good! Fair warning though, the parking is challenging and it does get very loud if the restaurant is full. But worth the trip!!
This place is a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the service is prompt and courteous, and the food is delicious and varied. They always have special dishes that surprise and delight us. It is a very popular place among the locals, so be prepared to call in advance to check on seating status, especially on weekends or during the furniture market season. The only downside is that parking can fill up fast and require you to park further away, so plan accordingly. We highly recommend this place if you can get a table.
Great food and dessert. Love that they have real mocktail options. The bread pudding is amazing. Considering this resturant is so good, expect longer wait times on the weekend at dinner time.
Food delicious. Daniel our waiter was superb. It was so good we went twice in a week. I can't think of the name of the wrap with hummus and roasted peppers, but it's delicious!

I actually came out to this restaurant to do some work, the atmosphere here is very open, friendly, and relaxed. The restaurant owner is a hard worker and is always being a part of the team, there’s not one time I came and didn’t see her involved in creating a great experience for the customers from the kitchen to the floor. I was offered a meal here and decided to get the sweet & spicy chicken sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. Food was very delicious and fresh! I respect hard work and this restaurant deserves some more attention & love.
My dad has praised this restaurant for a while now so I finally decided to come along with him and I was not disappointed! The restaurant’s design is rustic modern and very nicely built! I ordered the snapper meal with grits and a salad. The snapper was seared well and very flavorful! The grits and salad also parred well with the meal. Our server Brandy took great care of us and helped my dad take all his pictures to have of our trip! When we’re in the area we’ll definitely be returning!
Dinner at Southern Roots was excellent. The food and service were both great, with good portion sizes and reasonable prices. The atmosphere was relaxed with dim lighting, and there is a bar with beer taps, wine, and mixed drinks. I was seated right away, but later there was a wait for tables, so it is clearly a popular spot. The service was well paced and unhurried. There is a parking lot, but it is small and fills up quickly. I would definitely return.
This place... is one of our top two places in Jamestown. (The other is Simply Thai right across the street.) Actually in the surrounding area too. Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. You can't go wrong at southern roots.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 STARS — A MUST VISIT IN JAMESTOWN! We had an absolutely incredible experience in downtown Jamestown—this place is a true hidden gem! The atmosphere alone is worth the visit. From the cozy, stylish interior to the beautiful patio with heaters and a fireplace, the ambiance is one of the best we’ve experienced. It’s the perfect mix of relaxed and upscale. Now let’s talk about the food… WOW. I had the Grilled Chicken Pasta, and it was phenomenal—tender grilled chicken tossed with pasta in a rich, creamy parmesan-style sauce with just the right amount of seasoning. Every bite was flavorful and perfectly balanced. My husband ordered the Lunch Cajun NC Catfish, and it was just as impressive—cornmeal-dusted and fried to perfection with a crispy coating, served with a delicious lime caper tartar sauce and two sides. You could tell everything was fresh and made with care. The service was absolutely perfect—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home without being overbearing. If you’re anywhere near Jamestown, NC, do yourself a favor and stop here. Between the incredible food, top-notch service, and amazing atmosphere, this place is a must visit. We will definitely be back!
